Training on Teaching Methodolody of Indonesian Language for Foreign Learners (ILFL) and Chinese Language Teachers

BIPA DAN MANDARIN

To enhance the knowledge, skills, and professionalism of Indonesian and Chinese language teachers, SEAMEO QITEP in Language carried out Training on Teaching Methodology of Indonesian Language for Foreign Learners and Chinese Language Teachers on 11-21 May 2014 at Ibis Hotel, Slipi, Jakarta. For the Training on teaching Methodology of Indonesian Language for Foreign Learners, there were 19 participants coming from Indonesia, Thailand and the Phillipines attended the training. As for the Training on Teaching Methodology for Chinese Language Teachers, there were 22 participants coming from Indonesia, Malaysia, Lao PDR, The Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Centre invited trainers from various upstanding universities in Jakarta for the ILFL training as follows:

2.  Mrs Santi P Mardikarno (Darma Persada University)

3.  Mrs Dien Rovita (University of Indonesia)

4.  Mr Nyoman Riasa (APBIPA Bali)

5.  Mrs Liliana Muliastuti (Jakarta State University)

6.  Dr Felicia Nuradi Utorodewo, Mrs Indrani Dewi Anggraini as well as Mrs Endang Nilla (SEAMEO QITEP in

      Language).

Meanwhile for the Chinese language training, the trainers were as follows:

1.  Ms Nita Madona Sulanti, Mrs Hatmi Idris, and Mrs Dilah Kencono (University of Indonesia)

2.  Mrs Hudiyekti Prasetyaningtyas (Jakarta State University)

3.  Mr Xin Yubao (self-employed)

4.  Mrs Lestari Puspitaningsih (Centre for Development and Empowerment of Language Teachers and

     Education Personnel)

5.  Dr Felicia Nuradi Utorodewo, Mrs Indrani Dewi Anggraini as well as Mrs Endang Nilla (SEAMEO QITEP in

     Language).

During the ten-day training, the participants from the ILFL training learned teaching language skills, teaching grammar and vocabulary, learning methods, media for Indonesia teaching, materials development, test and assessment for ILFL, lesson plan and cross cultural aspects. For the participants of Chinese language training, they learned mastering language skills, teaching grammar and vocabulary, cross cultural understanding, and innovative models in Chinese language teaching.The participants from both trainings were asked to do teaching simulation. Apart from the classroom activites, the participants for the ILFL and Chinese language trainings also had a chance to conduct academic and cultural visits. For academic visit, the participants of ILFL training  observed the teaching and learning process of Indonesian language for foreign learners class at STBA LIA Jakarta. As for the participants of Chinese language training, they observed the teaching and learning process of Chinese language at PAHOA High School. The participants from both trainings went to the Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park (Taman Mini Indonesia Indah).
