Workshop on the Development of Language Learning Evaluation Models

SEAMEO QITEP in Language (the Centre) conducted the workshop on 9-13 June 2014 at Santika Hotel, Depok, West Java. It aimed to design and develop models of language learning evaluation. Twenty language educators, namely Arabic, Chinese, German, Japanese and Indonesian Language for Foreign Learner (ILFL) coming from various parts of Indonesia, participated in the workshop.

To achieve the goal, the Centre invited language experts to lead and assist the participants during the workshop. They are Dr Nuruddin and Dr Endang K Trijanto from Jakarta State University, Ms Evi Lusiana from The Japan Foundation, Ms Nita Madona Sulanti from University of Indonesia as well as Dr Felicia Nuradi Utorodewo from SEAMEO QITEP in Language.

Throughout the sessions, the participants were divided into five groups according to their language expertise. Each group designed models of language evaluation for A1 level included listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. They then presented the models to the resource persons to get feedback on their works. By the end of the workshop, the participants were able to produce models of language learning evaluation for A1 level consisting of five languages, i.e., Arabic, Chinese, German, Japanese and Indonesian Language for Foreign Learner (ILFL).
