SEAMEO BIOTROP Calls for Research Proposals

For 2016 and 2017, SEAMEO BIOTROP is going to implement PhD Thesis Grant Programme and Joint Research Programme. Both programmes are intended to address efforts to conserve the region’s biodiversity. Theme for both programmes is “Sustaining and Enhancing the Integrity and Productivity of Ecosystems in Southeast Asia”.

Since 2011, SEAMEO BIOTROP has awarded research grants for 36 PhD students from Indonesia through its PhD Thesis Grant Programme. This year, SEAMEO BIOTROP invites PhD students fulfilling the following requirements to join the programme.

(1) Must be currently pursuing a PhD program in agriculture, forestry, natural resource management, and related sciences from any reputable university in Indonesia;

(2) Must have already completed his/her course work with an approved thesis research proposal and is ready to  conduct the research;

(3) His/Her research topic must focus on any of SEAMEO BIOTROP’s major program thrusts, namely:

      (a) Tropical Biology for Community Welfare, and (b) Tropical Biology for Environmental Integrity.

SEAMEO BIOTROP also invites all nationals of SEAMEO Member Countries to participate in the Joint Research Programme. Through the programme, individuals who are occupying a permanent position in government research and academic institutions are encouraged to conduct researches, which address the region’s tropical biology problems.
