SEAQIL Goes to Schools in Semarang:

 Workshop on Compiling Best Practices in Language Teaching

Workshop on Compiling Best Practices in Language Teaching or also known as SEAQIL Goes to Schools was held for the third batch on 4-7 August 2015 at Hotel Santika Premiere Semarang. The workshop, which was held in Yogyakarta for the first batch and Bandung for the second batch, was designed to facilitate language teachers in Southeast Asia to share their best practices in language teaching. The compilation of best practices will be disseminated through printed and digital material publications and are expected to inspire teachers in Southeast Asia to give a variety to their teaching techniques.

The Workshop was officially opened by a representative of Office of Education and Culture Central Java Province, Mr Sutarmanto, in front of forty language teachers from Semarang as participants and seven lecturers as resource persons. After completing the four-day workshop, the participants succeeded to compile forty two drafts of best practices for Arabic, English, Indonesian, and Indonesian for Foreign Learners, Japanese, French, and Mandarin.

The seven resource persons who successfully assisted the participants to compose their best practices were from Universitas Negeri Semarang. They were Dr. Sri Rejeki Urip, Dr. Zaim Elmubarok, Ms. U’um Qomariyah, M.Hum., Mr. Seful Bahri, M.Pd., Ms. Yuyun Rosliyah M.Pd., Ms. Fansi Onita Santoso, M.A., and Yusro Edy Nugroho, M.Hum.

With the same goals as stated in the grand design of SEAQIL Goes to Schools, the Centre will conduct the same workshop in Thailand in 2016. Prior to publication, the Centre will review all drafts to select the finest best practices to be compiled in a book to be disseminated throughout Southeast Asia.
