Bruneian Language Teachers Join Research Methodology Training

From 30 August to 4 September 2015, the Centre conducted In-Country Training of Research Methodology on Foreign Language Teaching in Brunei Darussalam. Thirty-two language teachers, consisted of Arabic, English and Mandarin, gathered at Brunei Darussalam Teacher Academy building to join this training. The training was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam, particularly Department of School and Curriculum Development Department.

The training aims to enhance the participants’ knowledge and skills on research methodology for foreign language teaching. To achieve the aim, the Centre invited Prof. Emi Emilia, PhD (National Agency for Language Development and Cultivation), Ms Raden Maesaroh (Indonesian Education University) and Ms Endang Nilla Pramowardhanny (SEAMEO QITEP in Language) as the resource persons.

During the training, the participants gained lots of information about research in language teaching. They also learnt to make research questions and finally develop their own research proposals. By the end of the training, 31 research proposals were produced. These proposals were then to be reviewed by the Centre and other experts to select the best ones which will be included in SEAMEO QITEP in Language’s Research Grants 2016.
