SEAQIL Goes to Vietnam!

Aiming to compile language teaching techniques from foreign language teachers, SEAMEO QITEP in Language (the Centre) conducted Workshop on SEAQIL Goes to Schools. This workshop was a collaborative activity between the Centre and Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) of Vietnam. This activity was held on 18 —19 June 2019 at University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Vietnam.

In the morning of the first day, Trần Trọng Hưng, PhD, Deputy Director of National Foreign Language Project, MoET of Vietnam, officially opened the workshop and welcomed all the participants and Centre’ team that joined the workshop. There were 36 participants that joined this workshop. The participants assisted by seven language experts, namely Đặng Hiệp Giang, PhD (MoET Vietnam), Vũ Thị Thanh Nhã, PhD (University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University) and Phạm Thị Ngọc, PhD (Hanoi University, Vietnam). The rest were the Centre’s resource person. They were Dr Bambang Indriyanto, Ms Esra Nelvi Siagian, Ms Itra Safitri and Ms Reni Anggraeni.


In the workshop, the participants deepen their knowledge on policy related to language education in Vietnam and current issues related to language teaching to meet the 21st century education demands. Furthermore, the participants were asked to share their experiences on language teaching according to their respective languages.



The workshop was then officially closed by Dr Bambang Indriyanto. For the near future, the Centre will conduct the same activity in the other SEAMEO Member Countries and expected to publish the compilation of good practices in Southeast Asia region in 2022.
