SEAQIL Goes to Schools
SEAQIL Goes to Schools (STGS) is a project consisting of series of workshops conducted since 2014 to gather language teachers in South East Asia to share their good practices and effective techniques applied in their classes. The workshops, then, result in compilations of fun and interesting language teaching methods, strategies as well as techniques. The compilations are to be disseminated to language teachers in the region.
SGTS is one of SEAQIL’s efforts to assist language teachers in enriching their teaching techniques. In this project, SEAQIL collaborates with the association of teachers who teach Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Indonesian, ILFL and Japanese language in high school level.
From hundreds of drafts of good practices on language teaching generated in the workshops organised in Indonesia, SEAQIL has published the first product of STGS project in April 2016. The first publication of the project is a book entitled ‘Language Teaching Techniques: Good Practices from Indonesia’. The book is a compilation of effective language teaching techniques applied by teachers from Indonesia. The book provides meaningful supplement for language teachers to create enjoyable and fun environment to sustain students’ motivation and engagement.
Recently in February 2017, SEAQIL published the second edition of the book, which is practically the revised version of the first. The digital version of the book is available in SEAQIL’s Publications.
In fiscal year 2017-2018, SEAQIL will expand this project in other Southeast Asian countries i.e. Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Subsequently, SEAQIL will publish similar book representing the teaching context in Southeast Asia. Therefore, various contextualised teaching techniques can be presented.
